Understanding the funding changes from 9 months

Working parent funding is now available from 9 months. Here's what this means for your family and how to apply.

Understanding the funding changes from 9 months

There's been an important change to childcare funding that could affect your family. Working parent funding is now available from 9 months, which means eligible families can access funded hours much earlier than before.

Previously, funded hours were only available from age 2 (or 3 for the universal entitlement). The new scheme means working parents can receive up to 15 hours of funded childcare per week from when their child is born.

To be eligible, both parents (or the sole parent in a single-parent household) need to be working and earning at least the equivalent of 16 hours per week at the national minimum wage. There's also an upper income limit.

We know the application process can feel confusing. Our team can help you understand what you're entitled to and guide you through applying. Just ask at reception or contact us and we'll walk you through it.
